I like it. The two-step registration/email confirmation thing was a bit
clumsy, and this sidesteps that problem quite neatly.

One more thing that would be nice would be some sort of 'setup wizard'
thing, since I get the impression that a lot of users just expect it 
to magically know where they live and send them earthquakes from around
there.
