Network Administrators,
======================================
ESN NETWORK MAINTENANCE NOTIFICATION
======================================
PLANNED CHANGE DATE/TIME WINDOW: TUESDAY MARCH 2, 2010
8:00pm - 8:30pm Mountain Time
ANTICIPATED IMPACT ON USER COMMUNITY: DFC 5 MINUTE OUTAGE
DENVER FEDERAL CENTER ( 5 MINUTE OUTAGE FOR ALL SERVICES)
Internet, Intranet, DMZs,
DESCRIPTION OF CHANGE:
The Department of Interior - Enterprise Services Network -
Network Operation Center will be upgrading the Junos code on
the USGS Denver Juniper M10i from 9.3-to-9.6R3. The router will
take about 5-minutes to reload the new image, and services
in/out of the Denver Federal Center will be disrupted for the
USGS during this time. All sites that use Denver for Internet
access will fail-over to their back-up Internet gateway.
.
RATIONALE FOR CHANGE:
The upgrade will correct a security vulnerability with NTP and
will also correct a bug in the route forwarding table that has
caused several problems with network management.
