Hi - Thanks to a partnership of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACDE)-St.
Louis District, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service-Missouri,
USACE_Memphis District, Missouri State Department of Natural Resources, and
USGS, there is a new batch of high-resolution (~7 cm vertical
resolution;"QL2") Lidar available for most of the heart of the New Madrid
seismic zone. The data, the highest resolution yet available for most of NE
Arkansas and the Missouri Bootheel, are recently publicly available in raw
point-cloud LAS files from the USGS National Map site.
The following is a quick overview of how to get the data. I'm not an expert
at retrieving data like this from the web, so I had to ask a colleague for
help with the procedural outline listed below. No guarantees here but this
should provide some guidance.
Good luck and happy hunting for tectonically-induced surface deformation
that will provide more clues about New Madrid earthquake history.

*TNM Lidar Data Download Workflow*
1. Navigate to: https://viewer.nationalmap.gov/basic/
2. Zoom in to area of interest on map. (The more detailed area you choose,
the less complicated the data list will to sift through! LAS file download
can be very large...)
3. In left hand "Datasets" side panel under the "Data" section, toggle on
"Elevation Source Data (3DEP)" section, then toggle on "Lidar Point Cloud
(LPC)" in the "Product Search Filter" area. Last, click *Find Products!*
4. Now all available products are shown in "Pages" on the left hand
"Available Products" section. To add these to you cart for download, you
need to click the "cart+ Page" symbol. NOTE: This will have to be done for
each "Page" of data to collect all files for the entire area. (See
screenshot)[image: Inline image 1]
5. When done adding all products to your cart, click "View Cart". On the
resulting page, click "Export Cart Items" in the upper left corner. (This
saves a CSV file on your computer!)
6. Next click "Open Download Manager" in the upper left corner. This takes
you to a page where you can download The National Map Download Manager .jar
file. Download the latest version!
7. Run the .jar file previously downloaded, click File->Import in the upper
left corner of the GUI and specify the cartExport.csv file that you
downloaded in step 5. This will initialize the download of each file in
your cart.... Good luck!
