Bruce:

Ha! Being OCD is probably something a programmer can exploit to his
advantage.

Ok, here is the output:

osop at sandbox1:/opt/shakemap/bin$ ./grind -event 9583161 -xml -qtm -verbose
Map bound: -120.150000/-117.650000/33.533000/35.593000
": No such file or directory
grind: Error: Error in topo/sitecorr map creation, exiting.

AND

osop at sandbox1:/opt/shakemap/bin$ ./topo2grd 9583161
-120.150000/-117.650000/33.533000/35.593000 0.025/0.025 regime=active
": No such file or directory

I am still convinced this is a GMT thing. Your thoughts?

Hey, I am starting to suspect that gmew was written back in the good old
days of ShakeMap version 2 when things were different. It is odd that gmew
does not generate an event.xml file for each event and create the directory
structure shakemap requires (/data/input/<event_id>). The EW wiki states,
"Gmew writes a TYPE_STRONGMOTIONII message for each SCNL that it processes.
This message contains the PGA, PGV, PGD and spectral response values for
the SCNL. In addition, the user can configure gmew to write an XML file for
the entire event. This file is in the format used by ShakeMap (version 2)
for station readings." Did event.xml and the event-specific directory
structure come into play/ being when ShakeMap was upgrade from version 2 to
3? In otherwords, did ShakeMap not always show the event location?

Best,
