Thanks again. Here is the output from that exercise:

*osop at sandbox1:/opt/shakemap/bin$ ./shake -event 9583161 --dryrun*

NOTE: even though -qtm is set as a default grind flag in
/opt/shakemap/config/shake.conf it does not appear here.

*osop at sandbox1:/opt/shakemap/bin$ ./retrieve -event 9583161 -verbose*
*osop at sandbox1:/opt/shakemap/bin$ ./grind -event 9583161 -qtm -xml -verbose*

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It looks like there are still some fatal errors surrounding the creation of
tmp.*.grd files and pscoast.

Please note that pscoast full (*_f.cdf) and high (*_h.cdf) resolution are
indeed present:

*osop at sandbox1:/opt/shakemap/bin$ ls /usr/share/gmt/coast*
binned_GSHHS_c.cdf binned_border_c.cdf binned_river_c.cdf
binned_GSHHS_f.cdf binned_border_f.cdf binned_river_f.cdf
binned_GSHHS_h.cdf binned_border_h.cdf binned_river_h.cdf
binned_GSHHS_i.cdf binned_border_i.cdf binned_river_i.cdf
binned_GSHHS_l.cdf binned_border_l.cdf binned_river_l.cdf

Thanks again for your insights. I am now seeing the ShakeMap structure a
lot more clearly.
