I agree the power consumption is quite high, although these devices were 
designed for sites with unlimited ac power. One (not very elegant 
solution) would be to use a dc to dc converter. Datel manufactures 
several triple output supplies in the 20-30 watt range. their 
efficiencies are usually better than 80%. This would certainly be more 
efficient than converting 12vdc to 120ac and then back to dc. a 100ah 
battery contains 1000-1200 watt hours and would thus run your unit for 
about 2 days. Hope this helps.
