Hi,

Here at the National Institute for Earth Physics (NIEP) - Bucharest, Romania,
we are trying to implement the ShakeMap 3.1 program on a Linux SuSE 9.3
platform.

I installed perl 5.005_03, supplementary perl modules ( generally the
indicated versions), GMT 3.4.6 , MySql (the SuSE distribution version ), and
other software according to specifications in "Software Guide", and I built
the executables.
The only problem so far, was a missing ieeefp.h header file used by
contour.c. , probably this affects only contours drawing.
Where should I look for this file ?

In order to get a set of valid input data, I ran a Southern California
Antelope demo. Then I made waveform measurements
on the data, I configured "retrieve" to get data from Antelope using
db2shakemap_xml and it works fine, I mean the event.xml and
db_dat.xml are created. They contain some vel and acc values, all "0" flagged,
i.e. the data are OK.

I checked grind.conf ( no stations are excluded due to bad_sta options) and I
made sure the configuration files lib/sitecorr/*
and lib/grind/* exist. These files contain information about many Southern
California stations, including those configured in Antelope's demo, and
information about geology and site amplification factors.

I ran "grind". It produces ( no complains at all ) mmi.grd, pga.grd,
pgv.grd, stationlist.xml, estimates.xml, grid.xyz ( and optionally
grid.xml ) .

The perl interface to MySql database works fine, I retrieved in the shake_runs
table the commands I ran.

Then I ran "mapping", but it complains :

GMT Fatal Error: Error seeking past header
file /home/shake/shakemap_USGS/shake_home/bin/../data/82/output/mmi.grd!

I checked *.grd files ( I used grdinfo and ncdump) and they are not in
netCDF format. I think they should be in netCDF format, is this correct ?

In the grid.xml file, the <grid_data> element contains only 0.0000 values !

Have you any idea about what could be possible wrong ( within grind ) and how
should check it ?

If this is not the right place to ask ShakeMap questions, could you advise me
on how to proceed ?

Is there a set of input files ( event_xml *_dat.xml - correlated with
lib/sitecorr/* files ) available, in order to check shake programs ?

Thank you,

Best regards,

Anton
