[Shake-dev] shakemap install for individual users

Hi All,
I just tried to do a shakemap 3.1 install for an individual user. I was
hoping that it wouldn't require a full install for each user, and that
all the users could share the same source code. My attempt to do that
failed (basically it appears that when the library source code is
installed it configures hard-coded paths that circumvent the SHAKE_HOME
variable). Is there a way to work around that? Or did I do something
wrong? Or was I misguided to try?
What I did was create a directory with the supporting directories
(config, pw, data, some others), specify that as SHAKE_HOME, reconfigure
the config files, and mysql and such appropriately, and try it. It
didn't work, because it seemed that some of the paths weren't set up
correctly.
I then went ahead and did a full separate install, which worked fine, as
expected. There are some good reasons for keeping everything completely
separate between users, so I'm not too disappointed, but was wondering
if someone out there has configured it the other way and had it work
correctly?
Thanks,
Bill
