Summary of GHSC response activities to the Puerto Rico earthquake sequence

Presented by members of the GHSC staff

The M6.4 Indios, Puerto Rico Earthquake is part of an ongoing sequence of foreshocks and aftershocks that has caused significant damage. The PAGER alert is orange based on economic losses, indicating that the costs will likely exceed 100 million USD. Geologic Hazards Science Center staff have responded to this sequence by coordinating and communicating with other NEHRP agencies and collecting important data. This includes the deployment of temporary seismic instruments and documenting earthquake-induced ground failure. In this seminar, we give an overview of the NEIC response, field observations, and ongoing analysis of this earthquake sequence.
