Thu Mar 15 19:25:40 UTC 2018
*"**High Performance Computing: an essential tool for scientific discovery"*
*Janice Gordon, USGS*
*Advanced Research Computing*
*Core Science Analytics, Synthesis, and Libraries*
As data volume and complexity continues to increase, so too do scientists'
needs for access to advanced computing resources. Traditional computers
are often not powerful enough to handle large data-intensive computational
problems in reasonable amounts of time, pushing scientists to explore
advanced computing paradigms. The Core Science Systems Core Science
Analytics, Synthesis, and Libraries Advanced Research Computing group’s
mission is to provide advanced computing capabilities and expertise to USGS
scientists for the acceleration and expansion of scientific discovery. The
speakers will present an overview of advanced computing resources, training
opportunities, and consultation services available to USGS scientists.
*Tuesday, March 20th, 2018*
*2-3pm (Mountain Time)*
*USGS, 1711 Illinois Street, Golden, CO*
*Entry Level Seminar Room*
*Note: Please arrive *~5 minutes early* and *bring photo ID* for
airport-style security measures now in place at the USGS building.
Thank you,
GHSC Seminar Committee
