Next Tuesday, May 11 at 10am Mountain time, the EHP Web Team will be doing a test of the failover from the master webserver to the backup webserver. We've been preparing for this exercise for the last several months.

In order to perform this test, we will actually be turning off the master webserver and failing over to the backup webserver.

The recent earthquake information goes to each public webserver independently, so there will be no interruption of the basic real-time data to the website. Some of the event products may be interrupted briefly, but if all goes well, there will be no interruption in any real-time information on the website at all.

The failover should take several minutes, the Q/A of the failover will take about an hour, and the recovery back to the master server will take several hours.

We will send out an email to this mailing list before we begin the exercise, and we'll send out another email when the exercise has been completed and the master webserver is back online.

If you notice any critical issues with the website during this time, please contact Lisa Wald at lisa at usgs.gov or 303-810-5083 (cell).
