Pete-
I've opened a ticket for this; I'm guessing the problem is related to
the transition to a new directory structure on all our webservers to
accomodate the versioning system in a consistent way across all the
servers. This should be taken care of this morning.
We've experienced quite a few unexpected problems with the real-time
products due to this transition, and I'm really sorry. Our production
systems should not be breaking like this, and we'll have to do better
in the future.

Lisa,
On 22 September, a ShakeMap for northern California was produced and
sent to
the three USGS machines horst, graben and mesa. If I log into these
machines,
I can see the files are present in their proper directory:
/home/html/earthquake/eqcenter/shakemap/nc/shake/71282111
However, the ShakeMap for event NC71282111 is not available on the
USGS web
servers http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/shakemap/list.php?y=2009&n=nc
.
Fortunately, CISN has a backup set of serrvers at www.cisn.org which
DO have
this ShakeMap, so the event is not completely invisible. And
fortunately this
event is small: Mw = 3.45, so there is not much public interest in it.
Can you please investigate why this ShakeMap is not visible on
earthquake.usgs.gov?
