CEUS Colleagues,
On Saturday, September 3, 2016, a 5.6 magnitude earthquake struck 15km NW
of Pawnee, Oklahoma at 12:02:44 UTC (7:02 a.m. CT). As part of its Learning
from Earthquakes Program (LFE), EERI has launched a virtual clearinghouse
site to archive earthquake data and post observations from this event at:
http://www.eqclearinghouse.org/2016-09-03-oklahoma/
Any colleagues with information about earthquake impacts, especially those
in the region who have conducted reconnaissance, should contact me directly
to contribute reports, photos or other data.
The Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI) is a nonprofit
multi-disciplinary technical society of engineers, practicing
professionals, and researchers dedicated to reducing earthquake risk. Since
its inception in 1949, EERI has conducted post-earthquake investigations
for the purpose of improving the science and practice of earthquake
engineering and earthquake hazard reduction. Formalized as the Learning
from Earthquakes program in 1973, the LFE mission is to accelerate and
increase learning from earthquake-induced disasters that affect the
natural, built, social and political environments worldwide. The mission is
accomplished through field reconnaissance, data collection and archiving,
and dissemination of lessons and opportunities for reducing earthquake
losses and increasing community resilience. More at: www.eeri.org/lfe
Many thanks in advance for your contributions,
Heidi
