The 2015 Earthquake Insight Field Trip will be held Friday afternoon, April 10, through Sunday afternoon, April 12.
The field-trip route, which is about 300 miles long, starts in Cahokia, Ill., at 4:00 pm on Friday, April 10. Cahokia is just across the Mississippi River from St. Louis, Mo.
The group will dismiss in Cairo, Ill., on Sunday afternoon, April 12. Some of the key earthquake-related sites along the way include Ste. Genevieve, New Madrid, Mo.; Kaskaskia, Ill.; Reelfoot Lake, Tenn.; and Columbia, Ky.
Arrangements for continuing education credits (CEUs or PDHs) for geologists, engineers, and (possibly) risk-management professionals may be possible by directly contacting Dr. Francisco (Paco) Gomez (fgomez at missouri.edu). Dr. Gomez will be bringing a number of his geology students from the University of Missouri.
There is no cost for this field-trip, other than lodging, meals, and transportation – all of which are to be arranged by each participant. The FAQs will explain fully. Field-trip leadership will be provided by volunteers.
If you are interested in joining the group, please contact Phyllis Steckel and the FAQs will be provided. Carpools are encouraged, and carpool arrangements are in progress now.
Cheers,

"Minimizing earthquake risk is a funny business. The payoff may not come for a long time -- and then it will be in terms of what did not happen."
