Greetings, all.

The 2015 Earthquake Insight Field Trip will be held on April 10-12.

The field trip will begin near St. Louis, Mo., on Friday afternoon, April 10, at about 4:00 pm; and it will dismiss near Cairo, Ill., mid-afternoon on Sunday, April 12. The route includes parts of southwest Illinois, southeast Missouri, western Tennessee, and western Kentucky.

This itinerary will focus on field evidence of past earthquakes and historic sites important to the New Madrid story. Stops include Cahokia and Kaskaskia, Ill.; New Madrid, Mo.; Reelfoot Lake, Tenn.; Hickman, Ky.; and others.

For more information, please contact me at psteckel at charter.net. The field-trip FAQs will be sent in return.

The University of Missouri – Columbia may offer Continuing Educational Units (CEUs) or Professional Development Hours (PDHs). It is anticipated that some of the participants will be students from Mizzou and other universities and colleges. Dr. Francisco (Paco) Gomez will coordinate the award of CEUs or PDHs.

There is no cost to join this field trip. However, it is not “free”: each participant is responsible for his or her own transportation (i.e. carpools, no bus), lodging, food, and incidentals. Please see the field-trip FAQs for details on carpool arrangement, hotels, etc. There also may be costs associated with the CEUs or the PDHs.

This Earthquake Insight Field Trip is open to practicing professionals, students, and interested lay people.

Feel free to pass this announcement on to others (co-workers, colleagues, students, friends, and family) who may be interested.

Cheers,
