Earthquake Insight Briefing Planned for Industry and Government Leaders in Washington DC



            An Earthquake Insight Briefing will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 in Washington DC.  The half-day program addresses the business impacts of earthquake hazards and risks from an economic perspective.  



            It is especially for those in equity and investment, insurance, lending and finance, portfolio management, risk analysis, commodity transport, utility systems, communications, business operations, continuity planning, national security, and related areas.  The program is for non-geoscientists and non-engineers in both the public and private sectors, especially in the eastern US.   



            Confirmed speakers for Earthquake Insight Briefing include:

·       Wayne Clough, Secretary, Smithsonian Institution;

·       Steve Jaume; College of Charleston (S.C.);

·       Martin Chapman; Virginia Tech;

·       Deborah Pettit; Superintendent, Louisa County Public Schools;

·       Morgan Eddy; Steele Foundations; Washington DC;

·       Ann Brower; Economist; Lincoln University; Christchurch, NZ (planned via video conference);

            Earthquake Insight Briefing will be held at the District Architecture Center, 421 Seventh Street NW, Washington DC.
