Hi Dave,

What model of cell modem are you using? If you can get the Q330 web page but can’t use Willard, a common cause is that TCP ports are forwarded but UDP are not. Willard uses UDP protocol by default - and the Q330 Baler is usually configured by default to use UDP port 5330 or 6330. Make sure the cell modem is set to forward the UDP protocol. You could also try using the “Tunnel330” option in Willard when you connect, which will use a TCP connection instead.

As Doug noted below, we no longer recommend direct connections in this manner because the Quanterra data protocol is insecure. It’s okay on a temporary basis, but eventually best to switch to an encrypted VPN.

Sierra Wireless RV50) with Q330s. Before you deduce that it is a Q330
issue, you should try a computer/laptop on the LAN side of your cell modem
to see if you can talk to the computer from the cell network side.

At the BSL, we configure the cell modem/routers to provide an IPSEC
VPN tunnel to an IPSEC VPN router at the BSL. We allocated an IPV4 /24 private
network on the cell modem LAN. All traffic from the LAN goes over the
IPSEC tunnel to a private IPV4 /24 subnet at the BSL.
I have set up my first one and cannot get Willard to talk via the cell ethernet (console works fine). I can talk to the cell modem via SSH just fine and have tried using both public and private IPs on the Q330 (ie, hostprivmode=0 to pass the public IP tot he end device, hostprivmode=1 for a private LAN on the device side). I can get the q330 webpage, so I know that works. Any suggestions? Thanks,
