<div dir="ltr"><div><div><div><div><br></div>South Carolina is using SIS, and have all of our metadata and inventory in it. Full disclosure, I am on the SIS TIC and so have been involved in advisory role. It works quite well I think, and the developers are very responsive. The hardest part, as with any system like this, is the initial population. After that, SIS allows you to do what you need to do to track inventory and build dataless and stationxml with a minimum of pain.<br><br></div>I would be happy to answer any specific questions, but my overall opinion is that at this point in time not using SIS is way more painful. I think you will find SIS a huge improvement over Inv.<br><br></div>Let me know if you have questions.<br></div>Philip<br><div><div><div><br><br><div class="gmail_extra"><br><div class="gmail_quote">On Tue, Apr 7, 2015 at 8:08 AM, Meremonte, Mark <span dir="ltr"><<a href="mailto:mmeremonte@usbr.gov" target="_blank">mmeremonte@usbr.gov</a>></span> wrote:<br><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex"><div dir="ltr">May I ask regional networks if any are set up and using the SIS (<a href="http://maui.gps.caltech.edu/SIStrac/wiki/SIS" target="_blank">http://maui.gps.caltech.edu/SIStrac/wiki/SIS</a>) system and, if so, your experience and comments?<div><br></div><div>When I was at USGS-Golden we used the ANSS_Inv system to keep track of station instrumentation trees and epochs. Then from the epochs we generated the response SEED volumes that went to IRIS-DMC. I do not know if regional networks ever used this package but it functioned quite well supporting the IRIS Nominal Response Library even though a bit non-user friendly. However, I understand it is giving way to SIS based & managed at CalTech with a browser interface it appears.</div><div><br></div><div>Reason I inquire is due to fact that at my current post there is no inventory to keep track of station instrumentation trees/epochs or other equipment and, thereby, facilitate the generation of accurate response files. Thus, I am deciding whether to install the soon to be unsupported ANSS_Inv or participate in SIS which requires mandatory data availability to ANSS and/or IRIS.</div><div><br></div><div>Thank You,</div><div>Mark</div><span class="HOEnZb"><font color="#888888"><div>-- <br></div><div><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><span style="color:rgb(136,136,136);font-family:'Times New Roman',Times">******************************</span><span style="color:rgb(136,136,136);font-family:'Times New Roman',Times">***************************</span><br style="color:rgb(136,136,136);font-family:'Times New Roman',Times"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',Times"><font color="#0000ff">Mark Meremonte</font><font color="#666666"> Geophysicist </font></span><br style="font-family:'Times New Roman',Times"><span style="color:rgb(102,102,102);font-family:'Times New Roman',Times">U.S. Bureau of Reclamation: </span><span style="font-family:tahoma,sans-serif;font-size:12.8000001907349px">Seismology, Geomorphology, and Geophysics Group</span><br><div><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',Times"><font color="#666666"><span style="background-color:rgb(255,255,255)">Denver Federal Center</span> Work: <a href="tel:303-445-3298" value="+13034453298" target="_blank">303-445-3298</a> Cell: <a href="tel:303-808-3894" value="+13038083894" target="_blank">303-808-3894</a></font></span></div><div><font color="#666666"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',Times">POBox 25007, 85-833000</span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',Times"> Email: <a href="mailto:mmeremonte@usbr.gov" target="_blank">mmeremonte@usbr.gov</a></span><br style="font-family:'Times New Roman',Times"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',Times">Denver, CO 80225 </span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',Times"> </span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',Times"> Web: </span><font face="Times New Roman, Times"><a href="http://www.usbr.gov" target="_blank">http://www.usbr.gov</a></font></font></div><div><font color="#666666"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',Times">Ship: </span><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman',Times">U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, DFC, Bldg. 67-10th Floor, Denver, CO 80225</span></font></div><div><span style="color:rgb(136,136,136);font-family:'Times New Roman',Times">******************************</span><span style="color:rgb(136,136,136);font-family:'Times New Roman',Times">**************</span><span style="color:rgb(136,136,136);font-family:'Times New Roman',Times">**************</span></div></div></div></div></div>
