From what I have seen in the pictures it looks like a tech note I found for a charge controller using 2 LSI chips the implement a MMPT charge controller. It would most likely charge the batteries more efficiently them Greg's charger. But for the price Greg's charger is definitely more cost effective!!! I was looking at the chipset for something I wanted to implement but the cost too much. It may be good for a site that you have a power problem keeping the batteries charged.

Hi Kyle,

Greg Steiner has built about 25 flexible power supply boxes for me that provide 12 VDC with AC charger, external 12V battery connection, max of 2 120W solar panels, essential load (DAS primarily), non-essential load (cell modem, Freewave, VSAT or other comm), solar regulator. Solar panels and AC charger and solar can be connected simultaneously if opportunity exists. It is packaged in a small box as well; not sure of size though. Greg, if he sees this email, he can reply/elaborate better. I think a number of regional networks are using them.

They are incredibly flexible.

Regards,
Mark

This solar charge controller and power switcher box for a 12 VDC system are in wide spread use with PASSCAL.
