I'm going to release a ShakeMap update within the next couple of weeks that has much better handling of timezones, as well as more control over date and time outputs. It will support input and output timezones in the Olson database format (e.g,, "Europe/Helsinki"), and allow operators to customize time and date outputs using strftime()-style formats.</div><div><br></div><div>In the meantime, I *strongly* recommend that you use GMT for the time zone for all of your earthquakes in event.xml. The output will be in your computer's understanding of local time (unless you set use_utc in web.conf). Hi,

I need to use the timezone like GMT+8 in event.xml,however when I
used the GMT+8 or UTC+8 in the event.xml, it complaints "GMT+8" is
an invalid offset,and the program terminated in grind.

The shakemap guide,which says that the timezone can use the
abbreviations like GMT,PST,PDT,Not mentions some other abbreviations
of timezones that can be used.

what should i do if i use the time of GMT+8 timezone.
