Note however the special upgrade instructions: After getting the new code from the repository, you need to go to <shake_home>/install and do a 'make'. You must then go to <shake_home>/include and edit the 'macros' file for your system -- not much has changed there, but its important to double check. You can then go to <shake_home> and do a 'make veryclean' and 'make'. There have been a number of changes to config files, so you will have to go through those after the make. Again, not a lot of changes, but see the notes below for some hints (in particular, though, make sure your shake.conf is configured to run the programs you want run).</font></div><div><font class="Apple-style-span" face="monospace"><br></font></div><div><font class="Apple-style-span" face="monospace">Changes with this update:</font></div><div><font class="Apple-style-span" face="monospace"><ul class="MailOutline"><li>Support for GMT 4.5.3. This should make new installations easier, but there is little reason for existing ShakeMap installations to upgrade their GMT -- no new functionality is introduced by upgrading. Nevertheless, if you do upgrade, let us know how it goes. (Make sure to follow the ShakeMap installation instructions, above, after your GMT upgrade.)</li><li>There is now a config parameter for the default Vs30 in the maps. See smVs30default in grind.conf for more information. This will be helpful if you are using Borcherdt-style site corrections but not the California velocities. If you are using GMPE-native site corrections (via the -gmpesc flag to grind), this won't make much of a difference most of the time.</li><li>The 'mp' (metadata parser) program no longer needs to reside in <shake_home>/bin (where it gets deleted every time you do 'make clean'). It is now set by the 'mp' configuration parameter in genex.conf. Set the value to the full path to your mp executable. </li><li>Removed the last of the architecture-dependent code.</li><li>grind -noxml no longer leaves junk files lying around.</li><li>There was a logical gap between the magnitude-dependent lonspan flags for grind in shake.conf; it has been fixed.</li><li>Revised makeMMIsiteTable to use the GMICE specified on the command line. If you use something other than Wald99 (your other options are AK07 and FM10), you can remake your MMI site correction tables with your GMICE of choice.</li><li>Numerous bug and documentation fixes.</li></ul><div><br></div><div>Please let me know if you have any problems with this upgrade. Also, please let me know if you don't have problems so I'll have some idea of how it is going.
