Hi folks,

There is a new update to the ShakeMap v3.5 code. The significant changes are:

o Fix bug in AW07_mmi IPE when using Borcherdt-style site corrections.

o Fix installation bug on some systems (appeared as an error when installing the program 'print' during the "make" process).

o ShakeMap now creates and transfers a file called "contents.xml." The USGS web site will use this file to determine how to display the products for downloading.

o There is now a -pdl flag to transfer (in addition to -www, -ftp, and -push) to do the PDL transfers. transfer.conf has a bunch of configuration parameters needed to make it work (all of which are part of your present pushcmd/unpushcmd for PDL -- see transfer.conf for documentation). The flag makes PDL transfers act just like any other transfer. You can add -pdl to your transfer options within shake.conf. Don't forget to un-configure pushcmd and unpushcmd for PDL in transfer.conf once you've set this up.

o transfer now has the ability to kill off tasks that hang. A new configuration parameter "maxwait" lets you set a maximum time you are willing to let transfers to any of the destinations hang before the program wakes up and kills them. The default is 60 seconds, and testing has suggested that that is long enough, but you may want to adjust the parameter based on your experience.

o The -directivity flag now applies directivity to the non-Default IPEs (directivity has always worked with the DefaultIPE via directivity applied to the ground motions before conversion to intensity). If you use -directivity with a non-Default IPE (say, TA09), grind will use the DefaultIPE to generate estimates both with and without directivity, subtract one from the other, and add the result to your IPE's estimates. This seems to work pretty well.

o Added new output products: grid.xml.zip (just a zipped version of grid.xml), uncertainty.xml.zip (the uncertainty.xml file is replaced with the zipped version in this case), and rock_grid.xml.zip (which is the ground motions at each point without site corrections applied). The files will appear on the web site and in contents.xml.

o Some minor bug fixes.

As usual, do "svn update" followed by "make". The repository is at:

Let me know if you have any problems.

Bruce
