<div><span style="">On the anniversary of the magnetic superstorm of May 1921, sometimes known as the "New York Railroad Storm”, we consider its intensity and the impact it had on electrical systems of the time, especially telegraph systems operated by the
New York State railroad. The analyses of the historical magnetic storms inform modern evaluations of the potential for future magnetic storms to disrupt the electric transmission network on which our modern society depends.<span> </span></span><span style=""></span>
