<div dir="ltr">Dear all - <div><br></div><div>In preparation for the planned January release of the updated earthquake pages that will run on our new virtualized infrastructure, please look at the pages linked from</div><div><a href="http://prod-earthquake.cr.usgs.gov/earthquakes/map/" target="_blank">http://prod-earthquake.cr.usgs.gov/earthquakes/map/</a><br></div><div><br></div><div>This is a temporary URL that is linked to our new production systems, the URL will change when the cutover is made. Please look at the map and list and event pages from your mobile device as we have made many changes to accommodate mobile users. This URL is publicly available. </div><div><br></div><div>We would like your feedback, especially about things that are wrong or broken and should be fixed before it is publicly released, but any comments are welcome. (Keep in mind we support the current version and one version back on the most popular browsers across desktop and mobile devices.) <br></div><div><br></div><div>Key features:</div><div>Event pages</div><div><ul><li>Event pages are optimized for both desktop and mobile devices. </li><li>Updated mobile friendly DYFI form<br></li><li>Interactive map includes ShakeMap contours and individual station data</li><li>Improved layouts on product pages based on feedback and best design practice</li></ul>Map and List<br><div><ul><li>Multiple list formats for viewing information relative to certain products (ShakeMap, DYFI, PAGER) (Under setting icon) </li></ul><div>Search page</div></div><div><ul><li>Geographic area search widget </li></ul></div>There are also many back end changes that will be invisible to you, but we would be happy to give more details on if requested. </div><div><br>When we make the switch, ComCat, will be hosted on this new architecture which give us greater reliability and integration with our real time system. The url <a href="http://comcat.cr.usgs.gov">comcat.cr.usgs.gov</a> will essentially go away and all data will be served from <a href="http://earthquake.usgs.gov">earthquake.usgs.gov</a>. This new version of ComCat contains real-time data (<span style="font-size:13px">all ANSS products contributed in real-time) </span>from Jan 2013-present and the PDE catalog. There are more data sets being loaded into our development systems, which are available (from USGS network) at <a href="http://dev-earthquake.cr.usgs.gov/earthquakes/map/" target="_blank">http://dev-earthquake.cr.usgs.gov/earthquakes/map/</a></div><div>You can always look at these pages to see works in progress.</div><div><br></div><div>Something else to note is at first the new architecture will host the earthquake map and list, event pages, ComCat, as well other backend components. Other requests will be routed to the current/legacy architecture. We have a plan to migrate all components of the current earthquake (and landslides and geomag) site(s) to the new architecture. Please let me know if you have more questions about this. </div><div><br></div><div>Being this is not a formal release just an invitation to preview, I will wrap up here, but please take a look and send in your comments. </div><div><br></div><div>Thank you and Happy Holidays.</div><div><br></div><div>Lynda (on behalf of many)</div><div><br></div><div>-- <br><div><div><br></div><div>************************************************</div>Lynda Lastowka <div>GHSC <br><div>303-273-8422</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br><div><br></div></div></div></div>
