Changes in the Google Maps API terms of service (TOS) coming in October 2011 and the inability of GSA and DOI to negotiate more Federal friendly TOS with Google could result in a ruling that would replace the one made by the DOI Office of the Chief Information Officer in June 2010, which only stated a disclaimer was needed for use of the API. Alternative APIs are being studied for recommendation.
