We are writing to inform you of a topical session that we are convening at the 2010 GSA annual meeting next fall in Denver. Please consider submitting an abstract to the session.

T85: Recent Advances in Paleoseismology & Neotectonics of Eastern & Central North America and the Northern Caribbean

This session will focus on evidence of strong earthquake shaking and crustal deformation during the Quaternary. Presentations are solicited on earthquake-induced liquefaction, landslides, and tsunamis, as well as surface and subsurface deformation related to active faulting. Papers on the Haiti earthquake and paleoseismology and neotectonics of Hispaniola are encouraged.

We have three fabulous invited speakers for the session as follows:

1. Beatrice Magnani (University of Memphis); presentation entitled, "Long-lived, widespread deformation in the Central US: constraints from high-resolution reflection data"

2. Chuck Mueller (USGS); presentation entitled, "Contributions of neotectonics and paleoseismology to the National Seismic Hazard maps"

3. Carol Prentice (USGS); presentation entitled, "Paleoseismology and earthquake hazard in the Caribbean"

Depending on the response to the session, we may solicit manuscripts from participants for a GSA Special Paper.
