Being an all-volunteer event, <B>we rely only on word-of-mouth</B> to help us get the word out. Last year, we had a standing-room only crowd fill a 330-seat auditorium -- and there was a waiting list of more than 50.<BR>

</B></SPAN></FONT><B><FONT SIZE="4"><SPAN STYLE='font-size:14pt'><I>16th annual moves to St. Louis University<BR>
</I></SPAN></FONT></B><SPAN STYLE='font-size:11pt'> <BR>
The 16th Annual “Earthquakes: Mean Business” program will be held on Friday, February 5, from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm in St. Louis, Mo. Doors open at 7:30 am. Due to increasing popularity, the 2010 program will be held at a new location: in the Wool Ballroom, in the Busch Student Center, at St. Louis University. There is no cost to attend.<BR>
<BR>
The purpose of the program is to increase awareness of earthquake hazards and earthquake risks in the central US and how business and government can better prepare for it.<BR>
<BR>
There will also be exhibit booths and handouts available, providing more information on the central US earthquake issue. Light refreshments will also be provided at the morning and afternoon breaks. <BR>
<BR>
This free program is planned by the regional geoscience, engineering, and business continuity communities, and generously hosted by the Earth & Atmospheric Science Department of St. Louis University. The event is especially presented for those in the public and private sector who are interested in earthquake hazards, earthquake risks, risk mitigation, business continuity, emergency planning, emergency management, and citizen preparedness. It is especially for those who are in a position to minimize earthquake risks.<BR>

In the morning plenary session, speakers will address the geological, engineering, historical, planning, and political realities of the central US earthquake issue. In the afternoon, a selection of break-out sessions is planned. Break-out sessions will include business continuity planning, emergency communications, earthquake scenarios, and what happened during the 1811-12 New Madrid earthquakes. St. Louis University’s Earthquake Center will also be open for tours throughout the afternoon.<BR>

Online registration is strongly suggested in case of last-minute logistical changes – such as in 2007, when a major ice storm pre-empted the entire program. Email confirmation notices will be sent within 10 days after online registration.<BR>

All-day parking will be available at the reduced rate of $5.00 for participants in St. Louis University’s Laclede Garage, located on the southwest corner of Laclede and Grand. There are four informal dining spots located inside the Busch Student Center, and several others are within walking distance.<BR>
